On October 1st I saw the completion of a five-month project with Mercy Hospital Willard.

The hospital has recently relocated to a new facility in Willard.

On the roof of the hospital across from the patient rooms there is a gray wall that surrounds the heating and air conditioning units.  The hospital contacted me about creating something to cover the wall that would be more pleasing for the patients and staff to view from their rooms.

Here is the gray wall from the roof level next to the patient rooms.

My painting, an abstract landscape called Summer in the Firelands, 2013-14, was chosen as the image to cover the wall.

On a cold, gray and windy Saturday, with the guidance of Matthew Ramsey and help from Alec Casto, we installed Summertime in the Firelands.

Matt guided the process of stretching the canvas across five frames.

It was truly a team effort installing this art work.

We had a brief appearance from the sun that lifted our spirits and pushed us to complete the installation in one Saturday.

I also want to thank Debbie at billboardsetcinc for all of her help in the planning and printing process of this project.

When spring returns to our area I plan to re-photograph the installation.  I am very happy with the project and glad Mercy Hospital Willard likes the work.  Each panel is 4′ high by 23′ wide, and there are 5 panels.  It was quite an accomplishment.  My largest commission to date!  I could not have done this without the help of many friends!  Thanks so much!
